Christ as King

 • Series: Prophet, Priest, and King: The Three-Fold Office of Christ

God created people to serve as kings who exercise dominion over the whole earth. In the fall, that kingly status was removed, only to be given to specific individuals in ancient Israel. These kings were called to exercise God’s rule with righteousness, but none could do it perfectly. Therefore, it was necessary for the Son of David to come and exercise authority over the earth. Christ, as the second Adam, demonstrated his kingly authority by defeating sin, Satan, and death and ascending to his throne at the right hand of the Father. The church’s job is now to submit to Christ’s leadership and exhort others to do the same.
