The Day of Atonement
• Series: Leviticus
It was the most important day on the Jewish calendar. Once a year, and only once, the high priest could enter into the Holy of Holies to make atonement for himself and the Israelite people. It's also the most important chapter in the book. All of Leviticus points towards this monumental event. Moreover, as we examine what the Day of Atonement accomplished, we will see that it was but a precursor to the cross of Christ which made both expiation (removal) and propitiation (payment) for our sins.
